Marinell
North American P-51D-5-NA 44-13521 “Marinell”
“Marinell” served with the 504th Fighter Squadron, 339th Fighter Group starting late June 1944.
It was use to score four confirmed aerial victories before being shot down
in Northern France on 13 August 1944, killing its pilot, Lt. Myer R. Winkelman.
Acquired by Maurice Hammond in 1998, it was restored and flew again in 2008 under
the registration G-MRLL. In 2016, it was ferried to Italy to a new owner
before returning to the United Kingdom in 2023.
